Maddox, our first son, should be turning 4 this May 7th but he passed away after a premature birth due to HELLP and preeclampsia. Since we don't get to have a birthday party for our sweet one, we invite family and friends to honor him in a variety of ways, including gifts to the Preeclamlsia Foundation.
Our Story
Our family has battled this disorder (and other related complications) three times now, suffering devastating fear, loss and heartbreak. With our first, I developed HELLP syndrome at 22 weeks and was induced. Maddox was born, he lived 46 minutes, then passed away in our arms. Our second, Oscar, was born 3 weeks early and safely with the care of the Perinatal Clinic but I developed preeclamlsia 5 days postpartum. Our third, Angus, was born 6 weeks premature in order to avoid the serious risks we were facing, also under the care of the Perinatal Clinic.
