In 2017 at 34 weeks, Erin was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and Callie was suspected to be intrauterine growth restricted. After transfers to the hospital's maternal-fetal medicine specialists, repeated biophysical profile and non-stress tests began.
On 05/04/2017, Callie was delivered via emergent cesarean, weighing 5 pounds, 4 ounces & 17" long.
Ironically, May is pre-eclampsia awareness month. Erin urges all expecting mothers to contionosuly advocate for their wellbeing and trusted communication between doctors, during every stage of pregnancy. Mild symptoms reported earlier were dismissed by another medical professional in the office, due to Erin's overall health, age, and naturally apprehensive nature. It was not until more significant symptoms appeared and she requested to see her OBGYN, that appropriate diagnosis and care were provided.
By advocating for ourselves and our babies, we can save lives.
