Parking 

The parking garages at Northwestern University will not be open for use for this year’s race due to graduation commencement weekend. We highly recommend public transportation, rideshare, and carpooling this year. Street parking has limited availability in the local neighborhoods outside of the designated race courses, we ask all be respectful of residents and do not block driveways.

Inclement Weather Policy 

Sometimes there are weather events beyond our control. (A little rain in the forecast won’t stop us.) But if there is a threat of more severe weather, YWCA Evanston/North Shore is dedicated to ensuring the safety of all participants and volunteers. If race officials deem the course unsafe because of weather conditions, here’s what you need to know. 

  • Race officials may cancel, delay, or change the event in case of extreme weather or other conditions that may affect the safety and health of participants. The race can be delayed for a maximum of one hour from start time. If severe weather hasn’t cleared within one hour, the race will be canceled. The race director, in consultation with other officials, will monitor the weather and make a decision if any action is necessary. 

  • Volunteer course marshals will be released from their positions if the race is canceled. 

  • Registration fees are nonrefundable. 

 

Race Day Schedule: 

  • 6:30 am - In-person registration opens
  • 7:00 am - Warm-up with Athletico (main stage)
  • 7:30 am - 8K Run/Walk starts (We will have a single corral for those who run 5-7 minute miles. All others, including walkers, should line up behind this group.)
    • After 8K Run/Walk starts, 5K runners may begin lining up. 5K walkers should line up behind 5K runners 
  • 7:50 am - 5K Run/Walk starts  (We will have a single corral for those who run 5-7 minute miles. All others should line up behind this group.) 
  • 8:30 am - Family Friendly Stretch with Evanston Running Club (main stage)
  • 8:40 am - Remarks from YWCA Evanston/North Shore & Sherialyn Byrdsong/ Byrdsong Family (main stage)
  • 9:00 am - Youth Mile Fun Run starts
  • 9:15 am - Youth Half Mile Fun Run starts
  • 9:30 - Awards Ceremony


Race Week and Race Day Registration Fees (Sun. June 8 - Sun. June 15)

Adults (8K & 5K Run/Walk):  $50 

Youth Mile and Youth Half Mile Fun Run: $15  

Medical issues 

There will be two ambulances parked at the north east corner of Long Field. ALL medical issues should be directed to the ambulance. If it is an emergency, call 911! 

Race Course 

The Race starts and ends at Floyd Long Field on the campus of Northwestern University, at the corner of Sheridan Road and Lincoln Street in Evanston. View the course info page for more details and course maps.

Water Stations 

Water stations are located at various points on the course. There are three water stations on the 8K course and two water stations on the 5k course.
