ALS (also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease) is a progressive, degenerative neuromuscular disorder that takes away a person's ability to speak, to move, to swallow, and to breathe. Living with the disease is estimated to cost families up to $200,000 per year -- or more. Once a person with ALS requires help with activities of daily living, family primary caregivers often face difficult decisions and challenges as they try to balance the cost and delivery of home health care with everyday living expenses, needs of children or other family members, and their own health.
Founded by #57 former Baltimore Raven O.J. Brigance and his wife, Chanda, the Brigance Brigade Foundation is one of the only ALS organizations that provides funding to families in need for in-home care and medical equipment. We envision a world where everyone touched by ALS will thrive. And your gift is vital to making this vision a reality.
