I love Phoenix Bikes, a youth education program where kids learn the basics of bike repair, fix up a used bike to donate to someone in the community who needs one and then fix up a used bike for themselves. They can use their bikes to ride to school or to work, to race, to explore the DC area and most importantly, to have fun:)
In addition to running youth education programs, we also fix up and sell donated and abandoned bikes and provide affordable bike repairs so folks in the community can keep riding!
I continue to raise money and to volunteer teaching Earn a Bike classes and leading youth rides for Phoenix because I see up close how youth develop skills and confidence and relationships in the shop that enrich and change their lives.
