Dexter has entered this year’s calendar contest to raise money and support RAL! Dexter was adopted from RAL in March of 2015 and was recently diagnosed with cancer. They found a small tumor on his liver but the x-rays also show what appears to be bone cancer in his femur as well. There are still some additional diagnostics to be done, but I was told we may not have much longer together. Dexter has been my best friend and number one snuggle buddy since the day I brought him home. If it wasn’t for Dexter, I would’ve never had the courage to follow my heart and leave corporate America for a job in animal welfare. Shortly after adopting him in 2015, I did a fundraiser for RAL where I ran 12 half marathons and 1 full marathon to raise money for the shelter. Throughout that time, both my connections to RAL and my love for animals grew. In 2020, I was lucky enough to land a job at RAL as the Volunteer Manager, where I have the amazing perk of bringing Dexter to work with me most days. If it is true that we don’t have a lot of time together, having him featured in the 2023 calendar would be the perfect bookend to our story. One of my favorite things about Dexter is how he’s always loved snuggling on the couch. Every March since 2015 we have spent so much time on the couch watching March Madness (college basketball tournament). It’s been one of our favorite traditions. I know Dexter would be a perfect Mr. March!
