My reasons for supporting Girls IncĀ are personal. I transfered to a new school in the 11th grade, and remember the guidance counselor smirking as he informed my mother and me that I would have no need to register for Trigonometry because I "was a girl." I was lucky to have my strong mother to put him in his place, but these kinds of messages continue today. I applaud Girls Inc for providing the tools, opportunities, mentors, and vision to help girls believe they can do anything they want to do, and be anything they want to be.
