Life has a way of taking unexpected turns for everyone, but overall, I know how blessed and fortunate I am to have received the many opportunities for success that I have, and to be surrounded by a loving tribe of friends and family that support me, no matter what.
Not everyone has that kind of support system available to them, and I learned about the Girls Inc mission (http://www.girlsincpnw.org/) when I attended a fundraiser earlier this year. I was honored when their board member and dear friend Brandi Frye told me about this opportunity, and I decided on the spur of the moment to join her just a few days from now, despite my almost crippling fear of heights!! The closest I've come to something like this was managing to zip line in Costa Rica and rappel down a MUCH less tall waterfall. I can remember how my heart was pounding out of my chest but I did it, and I know I can do this too!
Rappelling down a 17 story building seems daunting, but not as daunting as the challenges many girls face daily. I want to model the Girls Inc. mantra of creating strong, smart and bold girls to my own daughters every day.
Would you please join me and support my efforts? I appreciate your consideration, and send up some prayers this Saturday when I'm shaking on top of the roof getting the courage to take that leap!!
Many thanks,
Brooke
