Help bring the future of medical care to South Texas

In the fight against cancer, some weapons haven't changed in more than a century. But transformative new options are emerging.

Your donation can help make these groundbreaking treatments more accessible for patients in San Antonio and South Texas.

For more than 20 years, the Red & White ball supported the fight against cancer and other chronic and life-threatening conditions.

Equipment and programs for South Texas Blood & Tissue. The number one need for blood is for cancer patients.

  • The Texas Cord Blood Bank and other programs that provide marrow or stem cell transplants for leukemia and other blood cancer patients.
  • Cell collection equipment and research to support the development of new advanced therapies, which use the body’s own cells to fight cancer and other diseases.

ACCESS TO LIFESAVING ADVANCED THERAPIES

Cell and gene therapies are transforming the treatment of cancer and other conditions.

These groundbreaking treatments start with one thing - human cells, collected from th blood of patients or donors.

But there's a problem:

  • Few centers are accredited and equipped to collect these cells.
  • San Antonio trails other major Texas cities in access to cell and gene therapies.
  • Many patients must travel for hours - or miss out entirely on the lifesaving options.

The lack of infrastructure also limits access to clinical trials for advanced therapies. This means less than 10% of patients in oncology clinical trials are Latino - a gap we must close.

BRINGING ADVANCED THERAPIES CLOSER TO HOME

In 2024, South Texas Blood & Tissue's nonprofit parent, BioBridge Global, established BBG advanced theraies to support new cell and gene therapies.

In 2025, the first ever mobile leukapheresis (cell collection) center was launched to increase capacity to support patient treatment and research.
