Our sweet baby girl, Grace, left this earth the day she was born, February 8, 2019.  I was 39 weeks pregnant and had been growing increasingly ill yet had no suspicion that anything was wrong. The morning of February 8, 2019, I went in to labor, 3 mere days before a scheduled c-section due to baby's breech positioning.  Upon arrival to the hospital and checking in to triage, we learned there was no heartbeat,  Grace was gone -- and my life was also at risk.  I was diagnosed with a rare, and life-threatening pregnancy complication called Acute Fatty Liver of Pregnancy (AFLP) that had put my liver & kidneys into organ failure, left my blood acidic and unable to clot, and my blood sugar at a critically low 26.  And while my life was spared, Gracie's was not.  It was estimated that she was taken from us a mere 24 hours earlier.  

After her death, it was incredibly hard to find appropriate resources to navigate this awful and traumatic experience.  But Star Legacy Foundation was the one organization I found that not only provided the much needed support and community that I needed to heal, but was also making efforts towards changing the statitics and realities of stillbirgh through research, education and advocacy.  That action and mission is what drew me to this organization originally and what keeps me connected to them today. 

Star Legacy Foundation is a community of families, health professionals, researchers, policy makers, whose mission is to increase awareness, support research, promote education, and encourage advocacy and family support regarding stillbirth, pregnancy loss, and neonatal death.
