Team Pearl Rides from Auschwitz to Krakow

Greetings from Antonina and Andrew Pearl!

This May I (Andrew) will complete the two year Teaching Holocaust and Prejudice Reduction Certificate Program at Kean University of New Jersey. To commemorate this important milestone, we will travel to Poland in June to participate in the 10th Annual Ride For The Living, a 60-mile bicycle ride from Auschwitz-Birkenau to Krakow.

The ride takes place at an extraordinary moment in history with continued hostilities in Ukraine and Israel and an increased need to combat antisemitism and prejudice in our own communities. This year we also commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. For the world today, Auschwitz is a symbol of the Holocaust and the atrocities of World War II. For us there is a personal connection with this region as our relatives lived, thrived and either immigrated to the US or perished in the Holocaust.

Money raised for The Ride For The Living is tax deductable in the U.S.. It will provide necessary support for the growing Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Krakow, which serves as the focal point for the revival of Jewish life in Poland.
With over 1,100 Jewish members, including a Senior Club with 60 Holocaust survivors, a Hillel with almost 70 members, and the Preschool & Nursery, Krakow’s Jewish community is steadily rebuilding.

Additionally, in the last three years, JCC Krakow has been a key partner in providing humanitarian assistance to over 400,000 Ukrainians, 98% of whom are not Jewish.

We hope you will consider making a difference in the lives of hundreds of Jews in Krakow who deserve the opportunity to flourish in a vibrant, welcoming, and modern Jewish community.

We are incredibly excited to embark on the
10th Annual Ride For The Living!
