I am a Veteran of the U.S. Army who retired after 24 years of service.  I have a passion for helping Veterans and have taken on the role as the Director of Supportive Services for Veteran Families, The Salvation Army, Kansas and Western Missouri Division.  The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program is designed to assist low-income veterans and their families in obtaining and maintaining permanent stable housing.  We currntly serve 105 counties in Kansas and 10 counties in Western Missouri.  We cannot do this alone and work with various organizations throughout Kansas and Missouri.  One of these partners is Flourish Furniture Bank in the Kansas City area.  We have worked with Flourish over the years to come together to help our Veterans with furniture and other household items once they are placed in a home.  Because of Flourish, families who need a little help, and maybe a hand up, are able to get back on their feet in a furnished home.
