Before I wrap up my time at Phoenix at the end of August, I want to accomplish two final goals: ride my first ever century (100 miles) through our Raise + Ride event and raise $20K doing so.
Riding 100 miles is a personal goal. My dad (who taught me to ride as a kid and still outpaces me!) has agreed to ride with me. The longest I've ever ridden before is 71.6 miles, and that felt incredibly tough. But Raise + Ride is a century after all and this is the year to go big or go home, so 100 it is. It's going to be epic.
If that sounds crazy, let's talk about raising $20K. Last year, my team raised $6K, so $20K is basically ridiculous. But I can't think of a better goodbye than by leaving Phoenix in a healthy financial position to accomplish the amazing plans we have for our kids for the rest of this year and beyond. It's also a matter of pride. This will be my 6th ride. The first 5, Henry Dunbar (former Phoenix Executive Director) has been the top fundraiser. Before I join the ranks of "former Phoenix EDs" with him, I've just gotta beat him. And he challenged me to raise $20K, so here we are. I'm hoping to raise $10K personally and $10K through team members.
