I am Sheryl. My team is made up of those people and pets who have been there both literally and figuratively as #ShouldersToLeanOn.

My entire life changed on February 21, 1997. About four months later, I was diagnosed with #RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy), aka #CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome), at a time when RSD was widely considered psychological. Sadly, many of us are still treated this way by family, friends, and physicians. Just to further complicate things, CRPS has been known by over 200 names! Research is so important as can be seen by the advancements made so far, but there still is no cure for this disease which is the most painful condition known to man.

I have developed many co-morbidities and undergone too many treatments to count in over 26 years. We all share similar stories.

There is no FDA approved treatment for CRPS. Each of the treatments and medications which I received have helped to some degree. About 17 years ago, I had an #SCS (Spinal Cord Stimulator) implanted. In January 2017, I also had a #DRG (Dorsal Root Ganglion) Stimulator implanted. Currently, I am awaiting surgery for a medication pump implant. All of those batteries need to be surgically replaced on a regular basis.

I have seen that first-hand how #PainStealsLives, from the relationships it ruins, to the isolation it causes, and to friends who have succumbed to what is nicknamed the #SuicideDisease, because there is no escape from the pain.
