In June, I'll be riding 403 miles over 6 days with 33 other dedicated souls on Team Samaritan House to raise money and awareness for the homeless of Colorado. With 30,000 vertical feet of climbing (no motor), I'll need 400+ people to pray for (on laminated cards) to get my mind off my tired legs and over the mountains. What is Team Samaritan House?
In just 5 years, Team Samaritan House has raised $250,000+ for the Samaritan House and other homeless shelters, which provide overnight stay and long-term residence with intensive case management. The ultimate goal of these homeless shelters is to help residents become self-reliant by providing needed individualized assistance.
Last year, nearly 1.2 million nights of shelter were provided and approximately 457,000 meals were served at shelters through Catholic Charities.
The Samaritan House last year:
- Supplied close to 25% of the shelter housing available to families in the Denver area
- Served 240 families with 514 children
- 91% of families are discharged with income and 66% with housing.
