In June, I will embark on an incredible six day cycling trip through the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains. I have always wanted to participate in the Colorado Ride The Rockies with my father who has completed the ride the past eight years, but with kids so young it has not happened. This year the stars aligned as my father joined a committed team of cyclists to raise money and awareness for the homeless of Colorado. At the same time, my husband, Matt, planned a RV trip to support us which allowed me to join the team without hesitation. I am ecstatic to have this opportunity to ride for this great cause and to do it next to my father and 31 other committed cyclists. We are Team Samaritan House!
Over the past five years, Team Samaritan House has raised over $250,000 for the Samaritan House and the other homeless shelters in the Denver area due to generous donors and determined individuals.
Funds raised in 2016 will benefit five homeless shelters including the Samaritan House in Denver. These shelters provide overnight stay and long-term residence with intensive case management. The ultimate goal of these homeless shelters is to help residents become self-reliant by providing needed individualized assistance.
Ride the Rockies will begin in Carbondale in June 11th and will conclude in Fort Collins on June 17, riding 403 miles and over 30,000 vertical feet. The ride will be physically demanding and undoubtedly there will be some sore muscles. My motivation for this ride is, and will be, knowing the difference we can make in the lives of those less fortunate. Each dollar raised will truly change the lives of the individuals and families who call these shelters home.
