Brenda and I are running 12 kilometers on opposite sides of the world in support of girls education. Any money we raise goes directly to Daraja Academy in Kenya and Brenda's education. Thank you for your help! or as they say in Kenya, ASANTE SANA!
Brenda is from Nanyuki district in a village called Kwahuku. She lives with her mom and five siblings. Her father passed away in 2008, and her mother is a subsistence farmer. Throughout primary school, Brenda was consistently sent home because she couldn’t pay school fees equivalent to $3 or less. Despite this, she passed the KCPE (Kenyan Certificate of Primary Education). Although she was now eligible to attend high school, she lacked the funds. Brenda’s teacher reached out and helped her complete the application to Daraja Academy. She feels incredibly lucky and grateful for the opportunity. At Daraja, Brenda enjoys acting in the Drama Club. When she grows up, Brenda wants to become a politician and help impoverished children like herself attend school.
