Every mile you run helps Lane County youth access the support they need to succeed, from basic needs assistance and academic support to paid internships, mentorship, and hands-on career exploration. Your participation directly fuels programs that help young people stay engaged in school, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward their future.

  • Hands-on career learning and work experiences like paid internships, job shadows, and industry tours that help youth explore careers and build real job skills.
  • Safe, creative STEM spaces and programs where youth can design, build, and invent using tools like 3D printers and coding labs,  helping them gain confidence and future-ready skills.
  • One-on-one support and resource navigation to help young people access basics like food, housing support, transportation, and stability services.
  • Paid training pathways in high-demand fields such as healthcare, manufacturing, technology, and culinary arts, helping youth earn while they learn.
  • Connection to mentors and career guidance that helps young people set goals, stay engaged in school, and prepare for what comes next after graduation.
  • Opportunities for youth to build community and belonging, with programs tailored to historically underserved populations across Lane County.

How to Sign Up

  1. Click the "Register Now" button below the thermometer graphic. Fill out the registration form and select the distance you’d like to run in the Eugene Marathon (5K, Half Marathon, or Full Marathon).
  2. Create your fundraising page! Make sure to edit your profile and share your "why"!
  3. Start fundraising! Instead of paying a registration fee, you are committing to fundraising the amount listed below (at minimum). Once your goal has been met, you will be given a code to register for the race on Connected Lane County’s team! (Don’t worry about the race selling out—anyone fundraising for a charity is guaranteed a spot.)

Fundraising Minimums:
$200 - 5K
$300 - Half Marathon
$400 - Full Marathon

The funds you raise will support Connected Lane County, enabling us to provide the youth in our community with career-connected and STEM learning opportunities, paid internships and job training, mentorship, support services, and safe spaces to dream and explore.
What is Run for a Reason?

Run for a Reason is the Eugene Marathon’s charity initiative to raise over $250,000 for local and national charities. The program allows participating charities to utilize the marathon as a catalyst for fundraising while allowing individuals to run the marathon, half-marathon, or 5K for a cause.
