As you may know, I am currently the Mens House Supervisor for Discipleship at the LA Dream Center, where we are advocates for the fight against “Human Trafficking”. Run for Hope is one of the Official Charities of the LA Marathon.
The LA Dream Center works to rescue domestic victims of human trafficking. The United States is one of the world’s largest “consumers” of this modern-day slave trade and large cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Phoenix are well known hubs.
Because two-thirds of all of those enslaved by traffickers today are women and 80% are put to work in the sex industry, the LA Dream Center has created a unique program targeted specifically to young girls and women coming out of prostitution. Many grew up right here in Los Angeles County, only to be tricked, threatened or outright kidnapped by greedy traffickers. Their average age is between 12 and 14 years old. Ninety-Nine percent of all victims of Human Trafficking never escape. So, the women who are rescued are truly the fortunate ones.
I am asking you to partner with the Dream Center and me in support of rescuing girls from Human Trafficking. As I collect sponsors, I am asking for your partnership. I am committed to the cause of Human Trafficking and to support of the Dream Center’s mission, I will be running 13.1 miles or the LA “Half” Marathon. In doing so, I hope to help bring awareness to others about Human Trafficking and the millions of girls and women in need of our help.
