Sean Vercellone

sean.jpgMy name is Sean Vercellone and I am going to be a junior at University of Minnesota studying Kinesiology. Long distance running has become a passion of mine and this will be my second marathon.  This will be my second year working with True Friends as an activity counselor at Camp Courage. Working at Camp Courage has been one of the best experiences of my life. Camp Courage and True Friends are important to me because I have seen the profound and positive impact it can have on people. Camp is an amazing place that brings people together and creates friendships that last a life time. It is a place where everyone of all abilities is accepted and it also pushes people to challenge themselves. I love seeing how the campers grow throughout the week and take on every activity with enthusiasm.

I love camp courage because of the amazing campers and wonderful experiences that are possible. Going to camp as a young child helped foster my love of adventure and the outdoors and I love being able to give that experience to new people. I'm grateful for this marathon to not only have the opportunity to push myself physically but give back to the community at camp that has given me 3 summers of memories and has helped me grow into a more confident and understanding teacher.

Dan Becker

Dan.jpgHello! I am a senior at North Dakota State University. I am currently pursuing a physics degree and will graduate in May of 2019. I am currently in an Air Force ROTC program and once I graduate I will go into the Air Force. I hope to further my education through the Air Force by getting an Education degree. The goal is to teach High School Physics after the Air Force. This will be my fifth summer with True Friends and I cannot wait! True Friends has given me so many incredible experiences and has given me the absolute best way to spend my summer. Through True Friends I have learned a deeper level of caring, patience, and confidence with myself. I would not be the person I am today without True Friends. I have never been big on running but True Friends has given me the support and confidence to achieve this incredible task.

Alexander V. (p), Alex (v).jpgAfter this summer I will be a senior at the University of Minnesota. I am studying kinesiology and will hopefully be attending physical therapy grad school in the next couple of years. I was born and raised in Springfield, Virginia, but love living in Minnesota. Last summer was my first year at camp, and I can’t wait to come back to Camp Courage as an activities counselor!

I've been living in Duluth for the past few years getting my bachelors in Elementary and Special Education with a certification in Teaching Autism Spectrum Disorders. I started working with True Friends 3 years ago. Whenever I think or talk about about True Friends love fills my heart. What began spontaneously  has grown into a global network of loving support. I'm humbled  and grateful to have this opportunity to deepen my connection to our team.

joey.JPGI’m originally from Marshall, Minnesota but I currently live in Springfield, Missouri where I study history. This is my fifth summer working for True Friends and I’ve loved every one of them. Running a marathon has always been on my bucket list along with sharing a meal with Will Smith and swimming with river otters, like at least 4 or 5 otters.
