The 14th annual Run.Walk.Breathe is my "almost" 15th survivor year!  Every year the Walk and writing this page is a time of reflection for me.  Even though that traumatic time is well behind me, lung cancer continues to be the most diagnosed cancer.  

This year, the top two fundraising teams represent some of the faces of lung cancer, a difficult reality.  Kelly of Kelly's Crew was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer with an ALK mutation.  She is a young mother, fit, and a never smoker.  She is surviving and thriving due to a targeted drug therapy.  Casey of Casey's Crew was not so fortunate. She was also a young mom, fit, a never smoker but lost her battle at only 38.  Both were unfortunately diagnosed at Stage 4, As a never smoker too, their stories resonate with me.  The need for research, early detection and new therapies is critical.  If you have lungs, you can get lung cancer. That is a sad sad truth!
