The Lauren McCluskey Foundation, a non-profit organization established in honor of Lauren Jennifer McCluskey, a University of Utah student-athlete tragically murdered in 2018, is hosting its annual dinner and auction, Safety At Sunset, on September 28th, 2024. This event is being headlined by Nicole Noren, an award-winning director, producer, and journalist from ESPN. Nicole Noren has won six Emmys, two Edward R. Murrow Awards, and a Peabody for her extensive work in journalism, which includes investigative reports on critical issues and a dedication to uncovering truth and sharing impactful stories.
Nicole Noren will be delivering a keynote speech on the transformative power of the media to enact change. Her speech will highlight the essential function of the press in advocating for safety and justice, particularly in the context of relationship violence on college campuses. Noren, along with investigative reporter T.J. Quinn, won the 2023 National Award for Education Reporting for their documentary film LISTEN, which investigates the response to Lauren McCluskey’s cries for help and her murder.

The Lauren McCluskey Foundation is a non-profit organization established in honor of Lauren McCluskey, a University of Utah student-athlete and Pullman High School graduate who was tragically murdered by a man she briefly dated in 2018. The foundation’s mission is to empower students, athletes, and institutions to improve the response to victims of relationship violence on college campuses. They provide resources and education to students and Universities, advocates for campus-safety-related policy changes, and drive on-going research towards solutions to better manage the issue of campus violence.

Nicole Noren, a first-generation college graduate, is a director, producer, and journalist who produced more than 50 investigative reports and short documentaries for ESPN. She now heads her own production company and has reported extensively on gender-based violence, education, and social issues. Based in Santa Barbara, California, Noren is an avid traveler, music lover, photographer, and outdoor enthusiast.
