Men’s Health Foundation (MHF) is making life-changing impacts for men-at-risk across Los Angeles. We are dedicated to providing healthcare, preventive care and social services improving and empowering the lives of all men. We believe that by reimagining the way healthcare is delivered, we can help create greater health equity for those men most at risk, breaking down barriers to care. We welcome gay, straight, bisexual and questioning men and non-binary and transgender people. We specialize in the needs of men, while caring for all.
Our organization started 20 years ago as a medical practice with one doctor in West Hollywood addressing the health needs of gay men. Over the years as the practice grew, we added providers, nurses, and support, a state-of-the-art laboratory, and a robust clinical research program helped to increase free and low-cost access to testing and life-saving and life-sustaining medications for those in need. With cutting edge innovations in HIV care and prevention, in 2015 our CEO Tony Mills created the Men’s Health Foundation to yet further expand access to PrEP/PEP with a vision to create an integrated medical, social, and behavioral health center where teams of culturally-humble providers and staff are seeking to addresses the systemic barriers to health care and support and stem the unacceptably high rates of HIV and STI’s among young men of color who have sex with men (YMSM) in South LA.
Men’s Health Foundation is proud of our successes in the past year and because of the support of donors, friends, and community-partners, we continue expanding services to meet growing needs in West Hollywood and in South L.A.. In 2018, MHF cared for 6,557 patients, of whom 1,493 are people living with HIV who continue to be engaged in life-sustaining care. We provided PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) preventative services to 1,942 individuals, who are at increased risk of contracting HIV. In total, we provided HIV biomedical prevention or treatment services to 3,435 individuals, making Men’s Health Foundation an integral provider of community services in Los Angeles County. In August, we marked one year of service at our SoCal Club in South LA, which has allowed us to significantly expand our work and positively impact hundreds more lives in Los Angeles and beyond.
