Thousand Waves fosters fitness, healing, empowerment, and peacemaking by promoting healthy minds and bodies through martial arts, violence prevetion and self-defense programs for adults and children of all ages.

• We strive to make our programs accesible - last year we gave out about $42,000 in scholarships.
• We run an Adapted Seido Karate program for children with disabilities that's free of charge to participants.  It's a partnership with the world-renowned Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.
• We reach young people all over the city with our violence prevention programs that prioritize peaceful conflict resolution and healthy relationships.
