I started training at Thousand Waves Martial Arts and Self-Defense Center when I was 8 years old. Now, 16 years later, I'm long overdue to do my part to support this integral part of my life. Help me raise $1,000 by backing me as I try for SOGO in this year's Spirit Challenge!

Spirit Challenge is Thousand Waves' annual fundraiser. Proceeds go not only to operation costs for our non-profit organization, but also:

-supporting the ASK (Adapted Seido Karate) program, an all-volunteer group that teaches to children with mental and physical handicaps. I volunteer in this program, and it's inspiring how much these kids love karate and how hard they work to gain strength and independance through martial arts!

-supporting our self-defense outreach programs, which takes violence prevention skills to communities that need them. This includes schools and organizations that may be financially or geographically incapable of getting these important lessons.

-supporting the scholarship fund; 10% of Thousand Waves' 400+ membership receives financial ait through this fund to continue training, and it includes children and adults of all ages. 

SOGO means "best all-around champion," but in this context, it simple means I'm participating in at least 7 events, including kata, sparring, and board-breaking challanges. I will be tested to my physical, mental, and spiritual limit, but I need your help if I'm going to stand any chance!
