My Personal Fundraising Page

Hello. My name is Maxwell Allard, and I've been training in Seido Karate at Thousand Waves since September of 2014. 
 
From the first moment I joined the school, they made me feel so welcome, and as I’ve advanced, my training has gotten more fun and challenging but in a good way. The teachers continue to push me, encourage me, and I have made many friends at the dojo.
 
Thousand Waves is much more than a karate school. They have many programs for the greater community. They provide self-defense, empowerment, stress reduction and violence prevention courses and workshops. They have a program called ASK (Adapted Seido Karate) for children with disabilities. And they have a scholarship program for people who would otherwise be unable to afford classes. Every spring, the school holds a fundraising campaign called the Spirit Challenge to help raise money for some of these programs.  
 
I will be participating in this week-long challenge in May, doing six different events: muscle endurance, board breaking, a circuit fitness challenge, a meditation challenge, a kata challenge, and a punch and kick a-thon, where you punch and kick 1000 times.
 
I am pushing myself physically, and I am asking you to push yourself a tiny bit financially. If you could donate anything (even $5 or $10), it would help Thousand Waves be able to reach a greater community. Last year during this fundraiser, I had just become an advanced blue belt. I have made a lot of progress since then. Back in November, I got my advanced yellow belt. And hopefully by May, I will test for my green belt. 
 
We say Osu! every time we enter the dojo. It means "striving with patience" and "I’m trying my best," and that’s what I am doing, and that’s what the Thousand Waves community is doing too.
