Stories of Independence
Aspen with Service Dog Jojo
In 2021, Aspen’s life changed suddenly and unexpectedly, when she was given medication that caused permanent paralysis and a rare neurological disorder. While her life now looked completely different and was filled with countless new challenges, she hoped a service dog would help her regain some of her independence. And she was right.
Canine Companions Service Dog Jojo is expertly trained to pick up things Aspen drops, help with laundry, provide deep pressure therapy and so much more. She is there during the fun times and the difficult times, reminding Aspen she is not alone and empowering her to keep going.
“I don’t know how I survived the first year and a half after my injury without her, because the light and positivity she has brought to my life is something I never thought was possible.” Aspen says. “She is helping me create a beautiful life.”
