Thank you for Your Support!!!

In July of 2025 I'll be participating in the 25th annual Seek the Peak, a hiking fundraiser in support of the Mount Washington Observatory. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to support my participation.

The Observatory is a private, non-profit, member supported organization which maintains a weather and research station atop Mount Washington, engages in many educational actities for learners of all ages, and helps preserve the storied heritage of the highest peak in the Northeast, a site of natural fascination and striking human endeavor.

I have been a member of the Observatory for a long time ...about 50 years, IIRC...and have worked for the Observatory since 1988. I currently serve as Curator of the Observatory's historical collection, including many books, maps, photographs, organizational archives, and artifiacts which help tell the story of Mount Washington and the White Mountains.

On July 19 I won't be hiking, since I will be helping out with tours of the summit weather station for Seek the Peak participants, but as a year-round hiker in the White Mountains, I greatly appreciate the updated weather conditions reports and detailed forecasts issued by the Observatory. They are a great contribution to hiking, climbing, and skiing safety and enjoyment!

Please join me in supporting this important New England institution by making a donation for this event. All gifts are fully tax-deductible and will help Mount Washington Observatory continue its important work in the Home of the World’s Worst Weather.

Thank you for your support!

P.S. "The Fellowship of the Sling" (with apologies to Tolkein) refers to the sling psychrometer, a weather instrument used to determine temperature, dewpoint, and relative humidity. Sling psychrometers have been used by Observatory staff members since its founding in 1932!
