The Knights of Nimbus is a team comprised of MWOBS Weather Observers Amy Cotter, Karl Philippoff, and Ryan Knapp, as well as Summit Interns Zakiya Johnson, Madelynn Smith, and Max Sasser. Atop the summit of Mount Washington, we take our jobs as meteorologists very seriously -- not just in the quality of our work and our weather observations, but also in our caring for the king of Mount Washington, Nimbus.

Resident Summit Cat Nimbus has lived atop Mount Washington since April of 2021 and is part of Mount Washington Observatory's longstanding tradition of summit cats. Between two summit teams, Nimbus has many loving humans that care for him, as well as plenty of food, playtime, and comfortable couch napping when it's cold outside. We strive to support and guard Nimbus, as he is crucial to our operations atop New England's tallest peak. Nimbus is named after the large grey clouds that bring precipitation, because he looks like a storm and, as we like to say, sometimes acts like one, too.

While Nimbus will remain at home on the summit of Mount Washington on July 19 during our Seek the Peak Expo at Great Glen Trails, our team is excited to descend the mountain for the day and meet the amazing supporters of MWOBS.
