PANDAS hit our family hard more than five years ago. With all three of our children affected by the disorder and an immune deficiency, we've spend countless hours in medical offices trying to figure out what was wrong and how to access appropriate and effective treatment. Thankfully, ours is a story a hope and healing, but we've only had that outcome due to a lot of perseverance and even more dumb luck.
No child's health and future should hang on luck, nor the random chance that a provider is PANDAS literate or an insurer happens to cover treatment. The funds from this walk will help SEPPA meet its vision of every pediatric provider in the Southeast being knowledgeable about recognizing, diagnosing and treating PANS and PANDAS.

How SEPPA Will Use Funds from our Day in the Park
As a participant or donor in A Day in the Park, you will raise awareness and money to support SEPPA's efforts to connect general pediatricians in our region with timely, rigorous, scientifically sound information about how to identify, diagnose and treat PANS and PANDAS.
Each state has a chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and each chapter hosts at least one meeting each year.
SEPPA will use proceeds from the 2018 Walk in the Park to exhibit at every state AAP conference between September 2018 and December 2109, which means we can put our materials in the hands of up to 6,000 providers in 15 months. If just 1% of those providers begin to understand these disorders and care for the children affected, it would be a sea change for families seeking diagnosis and treatment.
