Our family has formed L’equipe Bout-Denning to help raise awareness of PANS-Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome, a rare disorder that leads to brain inflammation in children in response to infections such as strep or pneumonia. As a result, children exhibit sudden onset of various behavioral symptoms such as emotional liability, OCD, and tics that rob them of joy. It also leads to sleep disturbances and worsening of school performance, among other symptoms. PANS is often misdiagnosed as a psychiatric disease and children are not properly treated leading to more debilitating disease.
SEPPA-Southeastern PANS/PANDAS Association is a local non-profit whose mission is to bring awareness on PANS diagnosis and treatment. SEPPA is sponsoring a walk on October 6th to help raise awareness and raise funds to help promote its mission. We hope you consider joining our team (walk with us or join us virtually) and/or donating to our cause in whatever amount possible. Every dollar will continue to support SEPPA’S mission to increase awareness through provider, caregiver, and parent education on PANS. Every dollar will help another child and family get proper diagnosis and treatment.
Thank you for your support,
Siena, Mia, Gaby, and Philippe (L’equipe Bout-Denning)
