Hello Friends!

We're the Cadena familiy and we're teaming up with friends and with SHARE. You're invited to be a part of the team!  SHARE is passionate about providing families with relief, resources, and relationships when caring for a child with special needs.  They’re having their 12th annual SHARE Walk, and I'm excited to be a part of it!

As a family with 2 children with special needs, we experience familyi life a little differently than many. We have one child with Autism and another with 22q 11. 2 Deletion Syndrome. Parents focus on their child's necessities such as appointments, therapies, and being a solid foundation for their child when they’re having a particularly rough day.  It’s a 24/365 job that for many will be for the rest of their lives.  A great joy -- but also a challenge. Share has done a tremendous job of walking with us on our journey.

Siblings also expereince life somewhat differently than children their own age. Siblings of children with special needs practice a great deal of patience, understanding, and sacrifice.  They love their sibling and help in any way they can.  They often step into a role of caretaker or helper at a very early age and face struggles unique to that situation. It is difficult when you feel like you're on the side line.

Sometimes parents and siblings need a break!  They need some support and a friendly community. THAT's where SHARE comes in.  Your contribution to this team directly supports families with special needs.  Because of you, SHARE is able to provide family celebrations, support groups, counseling, Mom's/ Dad's Night Out, and much needed respite care.
