I started at Big Brothers Big Sisters in August of 2022, completely unaware of the significant impact this job, agency, the people, and the community I've created would make. Over three years later, my love for the mission continues to grow.
I've had the opportunity to interview hundreds of volunteers and families, and to follow many of their journeys throughout the program. It is a privilege to be let into people's lives for a couple of hours, and to hear their stories.
But being a Big is more than just mentoring. It’s about being a cheerleader, a listener, a teacher, and most importantly, a friend. It’s about standing beside our Littles and cheering them on through every milestone, challenge, and success.
Right now, we have 1,000 youth eagerly waiting for mentors like our Bigs. That’s 1,000 relationships that can last a lifetime, 1,000 young people who are full of potential, and they’re looking for someone who will believe in them, support them, and help guide them into their future.
In 2023 I was matched with my Little, Tiara. Talk about an AMAZING young person. Meeting each other, building a relationship, seeing her grow, and exploring new possibilities wouldn't be possible without every person who supports our agency - that includes YOU.
