My Big Brothers Big Sisters Journey
If you were to ever ask me what I remember most, it's gotta be the people.
The memories, the laughs, the cries, the tough times, the easy times. The people in my circles make life worth living to its fullest.
After being with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana for over nine years at this point (jeez, I feel old), it has been and it will always be the people that fill your life with joy.
I was matched with my Little Sister Trinity for six years until she graduated from high school, and now, she's at IU Indianapolis studying to be a nurse. She's such a wonderful young lady with so much determination, drive, and kindness within her. Friends at work would joke that she was so much cooler than me. I wouldn't disagree.
Soon enough in December, I'll get to meet my new Little, C-Jay! BBBSCI just started a new school-based program, where mentors meet 1:1 with their mentees at their schools for one hour each week. After a little break from the program, it seemed like the best opportunity to become a Big again, and I'm so excited to meet this kid who's been described as sweet, funny, and curious. I can't wait to have another Little who's obviously much cooler than me.
I hope you'll consider giving to BBBSCI this Giving Tuesday, and more than anything, I hope you'll consider giving your time and light back to your community in some way. We need it now more than ever.
Lots of love,
Jackie
