Goals
Thank you for helping support me in my mission to raise money for Duke cancer research and the I'm Not Done Yet Foundation through Duke Shave and Buzz. Shave and Buzz is the largest and most successful student-run philanthropic organization at Duke and is focused on raising support for adolescents battling cancer. It was started to honor two Duke students who battled cancer and commemorate one who unfortunately passed. In the past 9 years, Shave and Buzz has raised over $1,000,000 and I'm honored to be a part of it this year! For each goal I hit I will be doing challenges that I am listing below leading up to March 29, when me and another 100+ Duke students will be shaving our heads. Follow @daniel_heiman22 on Instagram to keep up with me for the week.
Milestones:
$100: Mullet
$250: Give myself a fade with just a mirror
$500: Bleach hair
$750: Dye hair color of most recent donor's choice
$1,000: Flashmob in the middle of campus to the song of the most recent donor’s choice
$1,250: Wear a dress during hair buzzing event on March 29
$1,500: Avatar arrow on shaved head
For each $100 I will be running 1 mile, 50 pushups, and 20 pull-ups.
For a $50 donation: I will recreate a TikTok of your choosing
For a $100 donation: If your child goes to Duke I will prepare them a home-cooked meal, if not, I will do any challenge of your choosing, hair-related or not

MY Personal Goal!!
2025 Shave & Buzz Duke Fundraising Goal
Why Fertility Preservation for adolescent and young adult cancer patients?
When adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer patients who have completed treatment are asked their biggest concerns, the most common is: "Will I be able to have children?" It’s not the risk for cancer recurrence or disability and disfigurement - the desire to build a family is their highest priority. In addition to the toxicity of cancer treatments themselves, chronic health conditions can occur in the aftermath of any cancer treatment protocol, and infertility is among the most common long-term complication.
So, it’s unfortunate that in the confusion and deluge of information during a new cancer diagnosis, including staging, testing, treatment and prognosis, the topic of fertility preservation can be set aside or forgotten. AYA cancer patients report a lack of adequate information to make informed fertility decisions. Meeting the unique fertility goals of every patient requires appropriate fertility counseling, as well as logistical and financial access to fertility care.
One of I’m Not Done Yet's mission is to provide the resources for AYA cancer patients to preserve their fertility.
Your support of the Shave & Buzz will help ensure that these young patients have the HOPE that despite having cancer, they can one day have a family of their own.
