KAREN BUTLER

Karen Butler is the Founder and President of SLG², Inc, DBA: Shoot Like A Girl, launched in 2008, a company dedicated to growing the number of women who participate in shooting sports by empowering them with confidence; and DBA: SLG2 Consulting, launched in 2019 creating strategies for companies to grow. Karen retired from the Department of the Army after 22 years of civilian service, retiring in November 2016. 

Karen was recognized by Outdoor Life Magazine as one of their 2011 Top 25: Leaders in Hunting, Fishing and Conservation; and named Entrepreneur of the Year by Women’s Business Center of North Alabama in 2017. She enjoys competitive and recreational shooting, and is an avid hunter.  Karen is an accomplished speaker and writer.  She has been featured in Time Magazine, on multiple television shows, interviewed on National radio shows and conducted seminars at numerous events, including the Archery Trade Association (ATA) Archery Academy and Field and Stream Deer and Turkey Expos. She has given motivational speeches for women’s executive leadership groups and delivered a women’s history month presentation, and she has served as a panel member for the NRA Women’s Leadership Forum and The Catalyst. 

Karen’s husband, Todd is a First Sergeant, USMC (Retired), a veteran of Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. They have two sons, Dan, a Captain in the U.S. Army; and Ed, who served as a Navy Corpsman and is the father of their grandson, Ben. They also have three American Quarter Horses and a German Shorthair Pointer, Casey and a Yellow Lab, Shoots Like A Girl’s Legacy 2.
