Dwelling House

Fund A Need

Designated as a National Historic Landmark for its architectural integrity and significance, the Village requires substantial restoration of key structures to ensure visitors continue to experience —and discover— the Shaker way of life. Currently, the Village’s most critical need is to restore the 8,700 square-foot Dwelling House roof, which will also require repointing five chimneys and restoration of the Cupola, among other repairs.

Featuring a Chapel, Paul Revere family bell and Shaker library, the Dwelling House, dating from 1793, is the crown jewel of the Village. Restoration of the Dwelling House, however, is just one of several similar projects that must take place in the next year.
