Why I Love Roller Derby

Derby is my favorite thing to do. I was excited about Derby for years, so it was amazing when I got to start last summer. When the COVID lockdown started, I spent all day in skates. Now I skate every chance I get. I joined a skate club at school, I skate around Green Lake, I skate at the skating rink. Mama and papa love how I am learning so many new skills, and each new skill builds on the old skills. And Mama and papa love how derby pushes me to do things that are scary. And I love how my friends help me do scary things. And I love that you get to be physical but nobody really gets hurt. 

Your donation helps us have a place to play derby. After COVID started, the our league lost their skating track and the kids had to skate in outdoor parking garages (in the winter!). Even I started skating in community centers, but now we have our own spot to skate in - and the rent costs $22K/mo! Donations also help pay for things like team jerseys and on site medics during games (though that makes it sound more dangerous than it is). 

I love to skate, so please help me keep skating!!
