Why I love Roller Derby.

     Roller Derby was the first sport where I felt comfortable in my body, and didn't feel like I couldn't do something because of it. I started playing because I had friends who played, but the moment I joined I felt almost overwhelmed by the community's support and love. Everyone respected each other because everyone recognized how hard it could be just to learn to skate, there has never been any extreme pleasure to be better or favoritism toward more experienced players, only an encouragement to try your hardest. I'm very new to the sport but I love it wholeheartedly, even when I found it hard to love other things.

     I've found some of my best friends being a part of this community and more support than I've seen in a sport, They say you're only as strong as your weakest link, and the teams and coaches really understand that. The leaders and role models I've encountered are people I'm sure I won't forget, and I so want to learn more from all the other excellent people in our league.
