Why I Love Roller Derby

Roller Derby is a fun and empowering sport! I have been skating with SDB for 6 years and this year I am on Galaxy! Galaxy is SDB's travel team, meaning we get to travel around and compete against other junior roller derby leagues around the country. At the end of the season we get to compete in Regionals and Champs as well. As a team we spend many hours putting in the training so that we can be an amazing team.

As well as skating on Galaxy I am also one of the coaches for the Poison Skid'les. I love watching all the skaters grow in their derby skills and confidence. The best part of coaching for me is when a skater has been working on a skill for a long time and they finally get it. Their faces light up and you can see how proud they are of themselves. As a skater it is so important for us to have a consistent place to practice derby and call home. Which is why we are so excited to finally have a place.

The donation you make today helps with things like track time for practices and bouts, fun events we get to go to like the Halloween party and all night skate. It also pays for team jersys and on site medics for our bouts.
