Let's Do This!!

This winter, I'm fundraising for the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) — an organization I've had the privilege of volunteering with for the past 8 years as a sit ski instructor.

For more than 55 years, the NSCD has led adaptive outdoor programs for youth and adults with physical, intellectual, developmental, and behavioral disabilities — supporting their aspirations and access to Colorado's great outdoors. It was founded in 1970 when Hal O'Leary volunteered to teach 23 children with amputations to ski at Winter Park. That single act of generosity has grown into a year-round program serving over 2,300 participants in skiing, horseback riding, mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, and more.

On March 28th, I'll be hitting the slopes for their annual Ski for NSCD fundraiser — and I'm asking for your support.

I think of the NSCD as the great equalizer. As an instructor, I watch participants who spend most of their lives in wheelchairs get fitted with adaptive equipment and cruise down a ski slope — some with assistance, and some completely on their own. Every single time, it's something I'll never take for granted.

I believe the outdoors should be accessible to everyone. Your donation — of any size — goes directly to the NSCD and helps make that possible. Together, we can ensure no one is left on the sidelines.
