We don’t just imagine a world without pancreatic cancer—we believe it’s possible. At Sky Foundation, we are driven by hope, fueled by research, and united by the unwavering belief that a breakthrough is within reach.
Our work centers on the power of early detection, which is critical to improving outcomes. That’s why we raise funds to increase awareness, support groundbreaking research, and accelerate progress in the early detection, prevention, and treatment of pancreatic cancer.
On October 16th, as we gear up for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, we invite you to join us at The Night Sky Gala: A Night to Shine, our largest and most impactful fundraiser of the year. Set in the timeless elegance of the Colony Club, this evening is a celebration of progress, purpose, and the people who make change possible.
Together, we can light the way forward.

This year’s Night Sky Gala will be filled with shining moments that reflect the passion, generosity, and community spirit behind our mission. From exclusive auction experiences to inspiring tributes and creative collaborations, every detail is designed to light the way toward a brighter future for those affected by pancreatic cancer. Features include a silent auction, wine raffle, hors d'oeuvres, open bar, plated dinner, live auction, presentation, paddle raise and more.
We will hear from some incredible people in the pancreatic cancer community to tell us about advancements, advocacy, and award a special someone with a "Shine like Sheila" award.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER:
Dr. Aatur Singhi is a nationally recognized pathologist and pancreatic cancer researcher from the University of Pittsburgh. His work focuses on developing new ways to detect pancreatic cancer earlier—when it’s most treatable—and identifying which pancreatic cysts are likely to become cancerous. This helps doctors intervene sooner and avoid unnecessary surgeries.
Thanks in part to early funding from organizations like Sky Foundation, Dr. Singhi’s discoveries have progressed into large-scale clinical trials involving thousands of patients across the country. These real-world studies are a vital step toward turning research into standard medical practice, ultimately helping to save lives and bring hope to families affected by this devastating disease.
At this year’s Night Sky Gala, we’re honored to feature Dr. Singhi as our keynote speaker—a powerful reminder of the real, measurable impact our community is making in the fight against pancreatic cancer.

A VOICE OF ADVOCACY
Lori Barchyk is a shining example of strength, compassion, and resilience in the face of heartbreaking loss. After her husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, Lori became a fierce advocate—supporting him through every step of his journey while continuing to lead their family businesses, The Reptarium and LegaSea, in Macomb Township.
Through her story, Lori reminds us that advocacy isn’t just about raising awareness—it’s about love in motion. It’s about showing up, staying strong, and turning pain into purpose. At this year’s Night Sky Gala, she’ll share her personal journey of caregiving, grief, and unwavering commitment to keeping her husband’s legacy alive.
Her voice represents what it means to put legacy into action—and why community, compassion, and continued research matter more than ever.

Mary Beth Castorri

Her goal is to carry on Sheila's wishes to raise research funds and awareness of this terrible disease.
