Why I am Participating:
My husband, Gary and I have been married for 27 years. We are parents to four girls and one boy. I just became “MiMi” to our first granddaughter.
In 2013, at the age of 38, I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. In 2014, my cancer metastasized and I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. I am so fortunate to have been stage 4 thriver for more than 8 years!
I am passionate about supporting the breast cancer community, especially newly diagnosed metastatic patients. 40,000 women die every year in the United States from metastatic breast cancer. Sadly, I have lost way too many friends to breast cancer. I would love to have your support in this very worthy cause!

What is a Sole Star?
The Sole Stars campaign engages leaders in our communities as representatives in the fight against breast cancer. During the month-long campaign, each Sole Star will raise or give a minimum of $1,000, which will be used to support the work of the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation (VBCF.) 100% of funds raised remain in Virginia to help Virginians and to fund our local breast cancer initiatives.
Sole (noun): the undersurface of a shoe; the sole is meant to provide footwear with the necessary support, giving traction and protection from the surfaces it will be in contact with.
Star (noun): a celebrated, prominent or distinguished person; synonym: VIP · (very) important person.
VBCF Sole Star (noun): a very important person providing support for our mission to eradicate breast cancer by raising awareness and funds in their community and providing traction for our mission; willing to have fun while wearing awesome pink shoes!
