Hello. I’m Devon Steiner and I am one of the conceptualizers and general manager of Crystal Spring Grocery Co. I’ve played a part in the hospitality industry in Roanoke since moving here in 2011, starting with The River and Rail Restaurant, and now CS Grocery. The significance of serving my community and making meaningful connections with neighbors and guests has been instilled in my way of life for as long as I can remember.
I am honored to join the Sole Stars team this year to put these invaluable resources to use in raising funds for Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation. I hope you’ll visit us at the shop during the month of May to participate in our fundraising efforts.

What is a Sole Star?
The Sole Stars campaign engages leaders in our communities as representatives in the fight against breast cancer. During the month-long campaign, each Sole Star will raise or give a minimum of $1,000, which will be used to support the work of the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation (VBCF.) 100% of funds raised remain in Virginia to help Virginians and to fund our local breast cancer initiatives.
Sole (noun): the undersurface of a shoe; the sole is meant to provide footwear with the necessary support, giving traction and protection from the surfaces it will be in contact with.
Star (noun): a celebrated, prominent or distinguished person; synonym: VIP · (very) important person.
VBCF Sole Star (noun): a very important person providing support for our mission to eradicate breast cancer by raising awareness and funds in their community and providing traction for our mission; willing to have fun while wearing awesome pink shoes!
