Help provide access to clean water for rural communities in South Africa. Despite being a middle income country, millions in South Africa lack access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation. The situation is most dire in rural areas, where nearly 20% of the population does not have access to clean water sources, that is roughly 11 million people.
Lack of clean water has massive impacts on health, education, and economic productivity. Children are unable to attend school due to sickness, and adults are unable to work, trapping families in cycles of poverty. Access to clean water can transform these communities.
Islamic Relief aims to build and rehabilitate borehole wells to provide sustainable clean water access. Boreholes are crucial for reaching remote areas. Each new borehole well costs approximately $17,038 and provides water access for up to 3000 people. Rehabilitating existing but broken wells costs around $6,821 per well.
With your generous support, we can build 10 new wells and repair 19 existing wells, providing water access for 59.000 people. This will drastically improve health, school attendance, and economic productivity. Even a small donation of $100 can provide clean water access for 10 people.
Clean water is a basic human right. Your contribution can help make this right a reality. Together, we can empower rural communities with the gift of health and opportunity through clean water access. Please consider making a lifesaving donation today.
