I am spinning for ovarian cancer in memory of a special lady, Mitzi Watson. Mitzi is my brothers late girlfriend who passed away from ovarian cancer. This cancer is known as the "silent killer" of womens cancer. In the early stages, there are often no symptoms. When symptoms do arise, they mimic other illnesses, often making ovarian cancer as a cause to be overlooked. There are no 100% accurate or reliable tests to detect this cancer. Pap smears can detect early cervical cancer but not ovarian cancer. Often when it is discovered, it is in the late stages and has spread to major organs. Prognosis isn't good and the survival rate is usually around 5 years even with treatment. More research and education is needed to help detect this disease early and find treatments that will increase the survival rate. This is often a horrible cancer to go thru.
Please consider sponsoring me as I spin on Jan 20th. If you would like to join me, we can ride at a local gym or get outside and ride.
