Community Action's Skagit Food Distribution Center

Skagit Food Distribution Center

The Skagit Food Distribution Center, a partnership between Skagit County and Community Action, was established in 2006 as our county’s first ever centralized Food Bank Distribution Center.

Our Skagit Food Distribution Center is the core food security hub in the county for 15 area food banks ensuring large shipments of nutritious food continue to arrive uninterrupted. The centralized warehouse allows the county’s food pantries and hot meal programs to effectively work as partners, streamlining services, saving time and money – and it promises to yield more food for our county’s hungriest families.

Each year, the Food Distribution Center serves over 68,000 individuals and distributes over 2.6 million pounds of food in an effort to help feed low-income people and improve access to healthy, nutritious food in Skagit County. The Food Distribution Center also delivers healthy food to 260 vulnerable, low-income seniors across Skagit County and provides approximately 400 schoolchildren with weekend food in Burlington and Concrete.

COVID-19 Impact

Right now, we need help supporting our Food Distribution Center through the impacts of COVID-19.

Over the last few months our production has tripled! Before the onset of COVID-19, we were providing about 70% of the food you might see in a local food bank and moving about 250,000 pounds of food per month. Today, we are moving about 650,000 pounds per month and supplying about 83% of the food at a local food bank

More people than ever are currently experiencing food insecurity. We are committed to helping our most vulnerable community members access nutritious, healthy foods at all times.

Your support will help us continue to serve homebound seniors, children and over 68,000 individuals annually.
