Independence.
It’s at the core of America’s ideals. And it’s what drives Illinois Legal Aid Online to use technology to push the legal system to live up to its promise of justice for millions of Illinois residents.
July not only marks the anniversary of the U.S.'s independence, it's also the re-launch of IllinoisLegalAid.org—mobile-ready, responsively designed, and easily accessible by those who can’t afford a lawyer, yet need information to solve their legal problems.
I’m proud to be affiliated with Illinois Legal Aid Online, serving as a member of its Young Professionals Board. Together, we have pledged to raise $25,000 in support of this upgrade, ensuring that millions of Illinoisans will continue to have access to reliable and easy-to-understand legal resources, referrals, and practical tools that empower them to understand and solve their civil-legal issues on their own.
As of this writing, and with your help, we are nearly halfway to meeting our pledge. I'm asking you to make a gift to help the 3 million+ people, like Mike in the video above, who turn to ILAO every year to gain independence of a different sort—independence from an unsafe living situation, a marriage, crushing debt, a petty criminal record, or other legal problems that cause instability and chaos in their lives.
