My Story
Join me as I support the UC Gardner Center for Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders at the 2019 Sunflower Rev It Up for Parkinson's!
I believe that many of you who know my family well enough may already be aware, but my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's about six years ago. It's changed some things in our lives, but honestly, in many ways when you see my dad these days he's still the amazing guy that he's always been. Now that he's living the retired life, he's still the first person to volunteer to help when needed and there are three things that remain important to him above all else: family, friends, and faith.
Anyway, celebrating his 60th birthday last summer he decided that he wanted to get more involved with efforts to address Parkinson's research and hopefully improve the lives of all those affected by this condition. He successfully organized a team to walk in the 2018 Sunflower Rev it Up for Parkinson's event and is doing so again this year (9/8/19). Unfortunately, Brittany and I won't be able to join this particular walk because of other commitments, but we look forward to being a part of Dad's teams for future events. For this one, we're hoping to at least spread the word and encourage others to support if you can.
You can see a little bit more information about the event as well as a donation page that I've setup as one of "Tim's Troublemakers" here (proceeds from the event will benefit research and education at the UC Gardner Family Center for Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders).
If you want to support with a donation, great. If not, that's really fine as well. If nothing else, I wanted to use this as an opportunity to just spread awareness about my Dad's goals. Like I said, this won't be the last event that we get involved with, so hopefully we'll keep you posted on future activities as well.
This isn't meant to be a gloomy message, but instead an excited one putting passion into something that is important to our family. I'm really proud of my Dad to be doing this and I'm one of many who want to support him along the way. Have a wonderful day and hopefully I'll see you all around soon!
