On April 26th, I’ll be running the Sandy Sprint 5K hosted by the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation in honor of my mom, Patricia Jane Smith. She passed away from ovarian cancer on August 9, 2022, and not a day goes by that I don’t miss her. My mom was a nurse and a true caregiver — someone who encouraged me to shoot for the stars and believed I could do anything. I still hear her voice cheering me on: “You got this, Daeciababy.” I’m running to honor her strength, compassion, and the legacy she left behind. I’m also raising funds to support the Sandy Rollman Foundation’s mission to advance research, raise awareness, and support families affected by ovarian cancer. Every donation, big or small, brings us closer to a cure and keeps her spirit of giving alive.
